Both infants froze, their dark eyes locking onto the tiny, jumping creature with absolute fascination.
Barnaby’s tongue instantly went back inside his mouth, replaced by a gasp of pure wonder.
Thaddeus let go of his father’s arm slightly, leaning forward to get a closer look at the green visitor.
Bartholomew let out a long, silent puff of air through his nose, his massive shoulders dropping an inch.
The green frog took one look at the three giant, staring gorillas and decided it was in the wrong neighborhood.
With a massive leap, the frog launched itself off the leaf and vanished deep into the thick foliage.
The sudden disappearance caused both twins to look up at their father simultaneously.
They looked at his massive, stoic face, then at each other, as if asking him to bring the toy back.
Bartholomew remained completely still, maintaining his classic, unbothered expression.
Inside, however, he was celebrating the greatest tactical victory of his entire life.
He slowly brought his massive hand up, gently patting the wet, curly hair on Thaddeus’s head.
The little one whimpered softly, but this time it was a sound of comfort, not anger.
