Betrayal at 30,000 Feet

Part Two of the Story… 👇

Flight Attendant Revenge

The heavy Boeing 777 lifted off the tarmac, the roar of the engines masking the thumping of my heart. As the aircraft climbed through the clouds, the cabin pressure adjusted, but the pressure inside my chest only intensified. I forced myself through the motions of the post-takeoff safety protocols. My hands were steady, my posture impeccable. Ten years in the sky teaches you how to compartmentalize. I wasn’t just a scorned wife; I was the lead purser of this aircraft, and for the next eight hours, Adrian was entirely in my domain.

Once the seatbelt sign clicked off, I drew the heavy navy curtains separating the first-class cabin from the galley. The soft, ambient blue lighting of the cabin cast a serene glow over the passengers, completely detached from the storm brewing in my mind. I pulled out the premium beverage cart, arranging the crystal glassware and the vintage bottles with meticulous care.

When I stepped into the aisle, my gaze immediately locked onto seat 2A and 2B. The woman—whom I later discovered from the manifest was named Chloe—was already giggling, her head resting lightly on Adrian’s shoulder. Adrian, however, looked like a man sitting in an electric chair. His eyes darted toward the galley every few seconds, his posture stiff as a board.

I leaned down beside Chloe, offering my warmest, most hospitable smile. “Can I offer you a refreshment to begin your journey to Madrid? We have an excellent selection tonight.”

“Oh, yes, please,” Chloe chirped, her voice dripping with an upper-class sweetness. “I’ll have a sparkling water with lime, please. What about you, babe?” She nudged Adrian affectionately.

Adrian swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing. He refused to meet my eyes, staring intently at the entertainment screen in front of him. “Just regular water for me. Thank you.”

“Of course, sir,” I said, emphasizing the word sir just enough to see his jaw tighten. As I poured Chloe’s drink, I noticed a sparkling diamond bracelet on her wrist. It matched the design of a luxury brand Adrian had claimed was ‘too commercial’ when I asked for something similar for our last anniversary. “That is a beautiful bracelet,” I remarked casually. “A gift?”

“Yes!” Chloe beamed, looking at Adrian with adoring eyes. “Adrian bought it for me to celebrate our one-year anniversary. He’s such an incredibly generous businessman.”

One year. They had been together for an entire year. Twelve months of excuses, fake late-night meetings, and engineered business trips while I worked double shifts to help support us. My father had written a check for forty thousand dollars just three weeks ago because Adrian claimed his consulting firm was on the brink of payroll collapse.

“Generous indeed,” I replied smoothly, handing her the glass. “True businessmen always know exactly where to invest their capital. Enjoy your drinks.”
